Lucia, 30

My name is Lucia. I am a first generation Mexican American. I am also an educator. I am a daughter of immigrants. Although I was born here I still have to carry my documents with me just in case I am racially profiled. I am a Military Veteran. I served my country believing that we were protecting the rights and freedoms of ALL people in this country. Land of the free Home of the brave. But over the past few weeks I can’t help but feel so much heartbreak. Seeing so many families being torn apart. Seeing people peacefully protesting and then being attacked just for standing up for what is right. It is truly a heartbreaking sight to see. Which is why I try to do my part. Share information, help out neighbors, and just show empathy and compassion during these truly difficult times.
